We are vaccinating dogs and cats based on AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) and Los Angeles County Public Health recommendations. Each pet needs a unique vaccination protocol depending on the life style, age, exposure and traveling.
DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza, and Parvovirus), Bordetella, Rattlesnake, Rabies vaccine, for dogs.
Leptospirosis vaccine (Lepto4) and Canine Influenza vaccine (which both require 2 initial boosters). We have had outbreaks for these two diseases recently in Los Angeles County. Leptospirosis can cause kidney and liver failure, and it is contagious to humans.
Please note, all recommended vaccines have possible side effects in some pets and pet owners need to be aware of potential vaccine reactions (immediate allergic reaction, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, fever, pain and swelling at the site of the injection).
FVRCP (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia), FeLV (feline leukemia virus), Rabies vaccine for cats. We proudly carry Merial’s Purevax vaccines for cats. PUREVAX vaccines deliver everything needed to induce immunity without any of the unnecessary proteins or adjuvants. Canine Rabies Vaccination (HSC 121690, 17 CCR 2606.4): The owner of every dog over the age of four months shall ensure that his or her pet is currently vaccinated for rabies by a licensed veterinarian and secure a license for the pet as provided by local city or county ordinance. By 30 days post-primary immunization, a peak rabies antibody level is achieved. At this time, the animal can be considered immunized. Dogs less than four months of age must be confined at home or kept under close leash supervision by the owner. Dogs over four months of age entering the State must be accompanied by a current rabies vaccination certificate.Regardless of the age of the animal at primary immunization, a second rabies vaccination should be given one year later, and the three year booster schedule followed thereafter.
* Change in California Law in 2014: For Rabies vaccines in puppies, four months is no longer minimum age. Puppies can now get the rabies vaccine when they are three months old or older, California Health and Safety Code, Section 121690 (b) (1) *
